This painting was created with many layers using brushes and palette knifes of different sizes. Layers were scraped back to reveal under paintings. It was a fun piece and one I could have kept working on forever - it is difficult to know when to stop!

This is day 17 of the 30 day Challenge. 

Blackie's By The Sea is down on the boardwalk in Newport Beach and has been in business for as long as I can remember.  An institution.  I painted a smaller version and without the bike earlier in the competition.  I can't decide if I like the bike or not.  Please feel free to throw your 2 cents in there and comment below.  Stay or Go ??? 

I missed yesterday - mini emergency and I didn't have any paintings far enough along that I could quickly finish and post.  Oh well, another opportunity to remind myself of my New Year's resolution IF I had made a New Year's Resolution - Stop Looking For Perfectionism.

Day 9 of the 30 Day Challenge

And you ask, "Where is Day 8?".  Well, I never said I was perfect.  AND, if I made New Year's resolutions, which I don't, it would have been to ease up on... and ease out of... perfectionism.
AND didn't that come in handy yesterday?
This painting had a first coat of red paint that shows throughout the painting and especially in the sky.
I am really liking the watercolor paper idea.  What if you then mounted this paper on clean white paper and framed or floated it under glass?

When I stood back to title this painting I kept coming back to "Candyland."

What a wonderful game Candyland was - I loved it.

I felt the painting should have a grownup title.

I suppose it could have been Optimism in Candyland?
