"Makena Shore" Maui, Hawaii Abstract Landscape, Seascape by Janet Bludau

12" x 12"
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
With bits of red underpainting showing through, Makena Shore was painted with both brushes and palette knives in primarily blue and green hues.
Makena Beach is on the Leeward side of the island of Maui in Hawaii, where I was fortunate to live for 5 years.  The beaches in this area are perhaps my favorite on the island.  Have you been?

Tree Shopping

This painting is primarily palette knife but with a brushed foreground.  It measures 8 x 8" and is 1-1/2" thick on board.  Inspired by a Christmas Tree Farm on Maui, it is painted from memory, rather than one of my photos.  Most people are surprised to know there are Christmas tree farms in Hawaii but on the slopes of Haleakala, with the higher elevation, the temperature can be much lower than Southern Ca. where I now live.  It was wonderful to prowl around the farm and choose your tree rather than visit the corner, paved lot like I do now!

Wild Feathers

Wild Feathers was created for a Chicken Painting Challenge!  It was a fun afternoon in my studio with my friend Annamarie from Hawaii.  We both painted a chicken and entered (both chickens are under her name on the site due to computer issue).  She is an artist also and taught me a few collage tricks.  It couldn't have been a more perfect day:  Coffee with her mother's homemade strudel and planning our art project, lunch in the garden on a sunny day, laughing at our ridiculous looking chickens, wine and stories to finish..........
